Frequently Asked Questions

Hopefully, we have answered our most common questions below, but don't hesitate to contact us directly via email if we haven't quite covered it or if you'd like us to provide specific advice regarding your teeth.

Ocean
Does Teeth Whitening Hurt?

No, our service is completely pain-free - we use medical-grade gel, designed exclusively for professional use. Unlike cheaper, less effective gels, our formula contains high-quality hydrogen peroxide, ensuring the whitest results without any painful sensitivity. Safe and gentle, the gel naturally breaks down into water and oxygen, providing a comfortable and effective whitening experience.

How Many Shades Lighter Can I go?

How light we can go is dependent on your specific teeth. In most cases we see an improvement of 4-10 shades lighter - however we can see greater than this too, likewise if your teeth are already quite light it may be difficult to get ore than a few shades of uplift - feel free to send us a photo of your teeth and we can give you an estimate of how many shades we would anticipate and a guide of the treatment(s) you might require

What if I have a crown/fillings/an implant or veneers?

Our whitening treatments work best on natural teeth, unfortunately we can only 'whiten' these sorts of dental enhancements to their original shade.

I am Pregnant, can I get my teeth whitened?

We recommend against teeth whitening during pregnancy or breast feeding. There is just not enough science to tell us that it is safe for you and baby.

How long should I expect my teeth whitening to last?

Your new smile should last between 6-12 months. With great aftercare and a few small lifestyle changes, you can reduce your chances of re-staining significantly. Some people like to get a 1-3 monthly 'top-up' whilst others do well visiting us just once a year.

I have sensitive teeth, will whitening make it worse?

Sensitivity should not be exacerbated by whitening however we would encourage you to get on top of your current sensitivity before a treatment. A trip to the dentist to get some advice as to the cause of your sensitivity would be a good place to start.

What is the 'white diet'?

After your teeth whitening treatment, we encourage you to stick to a white diet for the next 24 hours. This means reducing food that may easily re-satin your teeth. We suggest eating foods like pasta, rice, chicken, white bread, milk, yogurt, light cheeses, potatoes, cauliflower, vanilla ice cream etc.

Definitely avoid tea, coffee, red wine, and tobacco during the first 48 hours after treatment.

What is the point of the light machine?

Our advanced whitening machine features cutting-edge LED AND Ultrasonic technology, which activates the hydrogen gel to lift stains faster and more effectively. The powerful Beyond II machine combines LED light with high-frequency sound waves, helping to break down stains deep within the teeth, not just on the surface. Unlike other LED, tray or Laser systems, our ultrasonic technology delivers a noticeably whiter smile in less time.
